Commercial asphalt work that meets standards
To ensure the strength of large commercial, industrial or institutional asphalt parking lots, the base layer typically consists of a Class ESG-14 asphalt mix (larger aggregates with a bitumen content between 4.2% and 4.8%). This base layer is generally about 60 mm thick.
For the surface layer, a Class ESG-10 mix (10 mm aggregates) with a bitumen content between 5.2% and 5.7% is required.
It should be noted that commercial asphalt has a slightly rougher and less dark finish than residential asphalt (driveways), but it offers greater resistance to wear and heat.
The commercial asphalt we use is therefore stronger, helping to reduce cracks, potholes, crumbling and breakage.
This asphalt is designed to withstand heavy traffic and ground movement caused by freeze-thaw cycles, resulting in highly durable surfaces.
Each municipality sets its own standards for the number and dimensions of spaces in an asphalt parking lot, as well as the slope percentages required for each section and traffic lane.
